Impactful
In 2010 in Germany alone, approximately 8 Gigawatt-Peak (GWp) of additional photovoltaic (PV) capacity is installed. This is the equivalent of one nuclear plant. Just to mention how impactful the PV industry has become over the last years. In 2009 the newly installed capacity in Germany amounted “only” 3.8 GWp. Finally in Germany alone, end of 2010 the total installed capacity amount 18 GWp.
Sustainable and affordable
Furthermore, this industry becomes more and more affordable for investors in power plants as well as for domestic applications, without substantial need or dependence of government support in the form of Feed-in Tariff systems or the like. Hence it becomes a significant sustainable renewable energy industry. Indeed, the grid parity forecast reads as follows. The development of average system prices shows that decentralized PV electricity production is expected to enjoy competitive parity with electricity from the grid for private consumption by 2012/2013*. Achieving price competitiveness will provide a further boost to the flourishing and emerging European PV markets and beyond.
Market forecast
Different market forecasts confirm Europe’s continued dominance at the world’s leading PV market. NovoPolymers is determined, more than ever, to significantly contribute to the momentum gained by the PV industry over the last years by its innovation in encapsulation technology and by its expansion in production capacity. We are proud to contribute to this sustainable renewable energy industry.
